AREA members, as the architects of RACHP systems, welcome the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

In particular, we fully support the intention to apply minimum energy performance standards to tackle the worst performing part of the building stock.

The Commission’s push for more frequent and encompassing inspections of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, combined with renovation passports and energy performance certificates (EPCs) issued by qualified and accredited experts, will also ensure that building systems operate efficiently and allow for achieving the Union’s goals.

In addition, we strongly encourage measures aiming at solving the major issues of shortages of qualified staff and investment in skills.
