On Friday 26 June, AREA and its members will celebrate World Refrigeration Day 2026.

Under this year’s theme “Cool Intelligence”, the campaign shines a light on the expertise, skills and sound decisions that make cooling and sustainable heating systems efficient, reliable and fit for the future. This message strongly reflects the role of AREA’s contractor members, who turn knowledge into practical solutions every day across Europe.

On this occasion, we are pleased to share some of the initiatives being organised by AREA members on and around this key day for our sector:

hufgas

HUFGAS, the Association of Certified Refrigeration Engineers, in collaboration with the Training and Development Unit of the University of Nicosia, invites all to an event on the theme "Developments and New Technologies in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps", on the occasion of World Refrigeration Day.

The event will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 16:30 to 19:30, at the Georgios Papanikolaou Amphitheater of UNIC Athens.

The event is aimed at all those who wish to be at the forefront of developments in the sector and to be informed about new technologies, innovations and modern trends that shape the future of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps.

AEFYT

AEFYT, as every year, will celebrate WORLD REFRIGERATION DAY on June 26th.

The event will bring together professionals from across the value chain—installers, distributors, maintenance providers, specifiers, government technicians, manufacturers, and others—and will focus on how refrigeration and air conditioning silently underpin much of modern life.

The discussion topics and activities will focus on highlighting the structural value of the HVACR sector, demonstrating how air conditioning and refrigeration technologies are part of the infrastructure that allows society to function and progress: protecting health, ensuring the preservation of food and medicines, facilitating economic activity, and contributing to a more efficient and sustainable energy transition.

Following the event, a cocktail reception will be offered to encourage networking among attendees.

CNI also participated as member of the appraisal committee in the III iClima Awards for excellence in thermal and air conditioning installations in Spain which recognizes good practices in energy efficiency, sustainability and technological innovation. On 8 June, the members of this appraisal committee met to choose the winning candidate in each category. The awards ceremony and gala dinner will be held on July 2 in Madrid

The iClima 2026 Awards will be given to companies that design and implement installations in the following categories:

  • Energy Renovation Project
  • Heat Pump Project
  • Integration of BACS and sustainable technologies with HVAC systems in commercial buildings
  • Critical Infrastructure Project: Data Centers , Hospitals, etc
  • Applied circularity project
  • Installation of the Year
  • Installation Initiative of the Year
Sosiad

Summer is here and with it rising outdoor temperatures - putting cooling and air conditioning systems to the test. In recent decades, the effects of climate change have become increasingly apparent through both rising average temperatures and extreme heat waves.

-This is a trend that unfortunately will not end anytime soon, says Anders Mårtensson, CEO of the Swedish Cooling & Heat Pump Association. When cooling systems are pushed to their limits, it is important to do what you can to ensure that they can handle the pressure from the heat.
